Commitment to Workforce Development
At Huntington Steel, we believe in the power of investing in our workforce. Recently, we were featured in a case study by the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), highlighting our initiatives and efforts in workforce development.
Our Approach to Workforce Development
Huntington Steel & Supply Co. faced the challenge of increasing local exposure to the community’s workforce. Greg McLin, Operations Manager, led efforts to partner with Marshall Advanced Manufacturing Center, a local Career and Technical Education (CTE) program. This partnership included providing lunches and discussing career opportunities with students, which eventually led to an internship program. This initiative has significantly contributed to filling open roles and fostering community connections, including second-chance hiring through partnerships like Coalfield Development.
For more details, you can read the full case study on the AISC website.
Why Workforce Development Matters
At Huntington Steel, we understand that our success is built on the skills and dedication of our people. By investing in workforce development, we are not only enhancing our capabilities but also contributing to the growth and sustainability of the steel industry as a whole.
