Class B Driver

Description

 HOURS:

  • 40 hours/week
  • Monday through Friday; First shift
  • Work flexible hours with overtime, including Saturdays.                           .

REPORTS TO: Branch Manager 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Able to bind loads to proper safety requirements
  • Know routes for safe travel and clearance
  • Able to identify materials to be able to check loads
  • Pre-trip inspection – documented
  • Capable of completing various types of paperwork including load lists, bill of ladings, and other shipping documents.
  • Ability to correctly use the timekeeping system
  • Capable of completing various types of paperwork with 95 % accuracy
  • Loads and Unloads Trucks with overhead crane and forklift
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Possess excellent measuring skills, with ability to read and understand foot/inch/fractions to 1/32 of an inch.
  • Maintain a good attitude toward fast paced change, lean manufacturing and multi-tasking.
  • Dependable and regular attendance necessary.

Requirements

 

 SPECIALIZED SKILLS/CERTIFICATION:  

  • Possess a Class B license
  • Maintain a current DOT physical card

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Individuals must be able to perform each essential duty at a minimum satisfactory level.  
  • Individuals must possess the required education/experience, job related characteristics and specialized skills/certifications.
  • Must be over 21 years of age, preferably over 25 with 3-4 years driving experience
  • Current MVR should show no more than one speeding ticket

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The physical demands described here are representatives of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

  • Climb ladders
  • Able to stand and sit  for long periods of time.
  • Factory setting; hot and cold temperatures; noisy conditions.
  • Able to lift 80 lbs.

 EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: 

  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED).
