Blaster/Painter

HOURS:

• 40 hours/week

• Monday through Friday; First Shift 6:00 am – 2:30 pm

• Work flexible hours with overtime, including Saturdays.

 

REPORTS TO: Shift Supervisor

 

SUMMARY:

Apply coatings to a variety of metal fabrications and shapes.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Loads and unloads trucks with forklift or overhead crane.

• Performs inspections on welds and all aspects of products for proper measurement and visual appearance of materials.

• Ability to perform wet and dry mil readings.

• Clean material using grinders, scrappers and wire brushes.

• Understands and uses proper rigging applications when using overhead cranes and forklifts.

• Ability to identify various types of materials and able to calculate weight of part for safe handling.

• Able to paint enamel top coats.

• Able to take weather readings and complete required paperwork

• Able to read and understand MSDS.

• Able to sand blast.

• Capable of completing various types of paperwork including load list.

• Ability to correctly use the timekeeping system

• Capable of completing various types of paperwork with 95 % accuracy

• Efficiency evaluation of at least 90 %

• Quality evaluation of at least 90 %

• Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The physical demands described here are representatives of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

• Climb ladders

• Able to stand for long periods of time.

• Factory setting; hot and cold temperatures; noisy conditions.

• Able to lift 80 lbs.

• Must be able to be fit for a respirator

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Individuals must be able to perform each essential duty at a minimum satisfactory level.

• Individuals must possess the required education/experience, job related characteristics and specialized skills/certifications.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

• High School Diploma or general education degree (GED).
